Pre competition

Over the last week I have been getting ready for my dance competition. Going over steps lightly and trying not to get hurt. I got my new wig I'm and it was the wrong colour so I had to dye my hair to match. It happens pretty often. I also have to tan my legs because it's the look the judges like. It Doesent look half bad except for the like where the tan lotion stops.

Can't by my love: she remains a popular fixture of beauty. She's encouraged by media. 

I think this says a lot about what is considered beautiful and how the media influences it.

Once upon a time

If been getting into this show once upon a time. It's about an evil queen who has put a curse on the fairy world turning it into a modern day town. None of the characters will ever be happy and only snow whites daughter can break the curse. In the show it takes traditional fairy tales like Snow White and Cinderella and sleeping beauty and changes there stories. I think it is an interesting twist on these old tales. I was wondering how the company could also do this seeing as the copyrights belong to Disney. I learned that abc is owned by Disney...

Quick Write: Small world

in the ride a dark world it will have many factory buildings pumping lots of smoke into the air. The air sky will look brown and black showing what we are doing to our world. in the next part trees will be dead. and there will be people looking for food. they are hungry and skinny. There would be now sun anymore because you can't see it through the smog, there would be no animals anywhere because they will have left of died off. there will be very few people left. next the earth will be deserted with a faded wood sign that says last ship to mars today, 11:30 am. i think the ride should show the impact we have on our own world and how we are destroying it with all our chemicals. At the end of the ride it will have my favourite Dr Suess quote "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not." -Dr.Seuss

Quick Write: Robot

my robot would be my dance teacher. She would be able to tell me what i am doing wrong. If my toes werent pointed properly she would tell me. it would be useful outside of dance class. she would also be able to clean my room for me because i really don't like to lean my room. My robot would also just spit out money because then i would not have to go to work because i hate my job so then i would not have to go to work. It would be medium size and purple. And it would talk with a southern accent.

Dance friends

I think the best thing about doing any kind of dance but Expecially with Irish dance is you get to have dance friends. Dance friends you have known for a long time. You go to competitions with them and for us we do folklarama together. In my group if dance friends it's Quinn who is one of the funniest people i know. There's carling she's really nice and a very good dancer. Imani is really funny as we'll and Maura and Helen. Helen kills me she just says the funniest things. One time during folklarama Helen was filling in for a girl in a group dance and she had no idea what she was doing but she put on a smile and just faked her way through doing it. It is very hard to dance when your laughing really hard

Post dance competition

Iall in all this weekend went pretty well. I didn't place in the overall on the stage because only the top 6 were announced and got trophys but I did place 8th I missed out on the trophy by 4 points. It's pretty good for my first completion In 2 years. In one of my individual dances I did get 5th so I got a little medal. It was nice not to go home empty handed. I'm proud of the way I danced and look foreword to Calgary in January. Here's a picture of how i looked at the feis. 

 Ps it's not my real hair it's a wig.

Post challenge

Over the next weekend I'm going to be going to Calgary for a dance competition. Through out the weekend I'm going to try and post pictures and other things to show what the life of an Irish dancer is like during the week of a competition. 

Six word memoir de-brief

I think there were a couple things I learned about story telling. One for them is that you don't need a lot of words to tell a story. You can give people a little glimpse of who you are through six words. I also learned that if your are only using six words you need to choose your six words carefully because you only have six words to use and you need to tell a story with those six words

I think I used my knowledge of story telling skills through my photos. I really like children's books. I like how your words do with your pictures and try and tell a story on your own. I think that my photos add another aspect or layer of story telling. So I used my knowledge of children's novels for putting the picture and photo together to make a story. 

I have learned that as a writer you have a hard time telling a story through six words. It can be done but is difficult. I think that's maybe why most books are so long. As a reader and reading other peoples six word memoirs you learn a little bit about them. Such as what they are interested in or their thoughts on certain topics.

Phone

I drew the back as reduce reuse and recycle because lani is very into being eco friendly. She always recycles and does her best to teach other people to recycle as well. She is responsible for the green program at her school. her parents are also very green. so it makes sense that she would be as well. i think that because thats what she is most interested in i think thats what her phone case would be.
